The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Forest Service announced $1B in urban and community forestry grants, the largest urban tree investment in world history, made possible by the inclusion of $1.5B for this work in the Inflation Reduction Act. Six of Doris Duke Foundation grantees, American Forests, Green Latinos, Groundwork USA, a collaborative effort that includes Anthropocene Alliance and Native Americans in Philanthropy, as well as the Trust for Public Land, have been chosen as regranting partners. Collectively, these organizations secured $107M to collaborate with communities across the United States working to increase equitable access to trees and green spaces.
